The Brisbane Racing Club is currently seeking a driven Sales & Events Executive for a 12 month Maternity Contract, with the opportunity for growth and extension of role. This position will sit with in Sales & Events team and report to the General Manager Sales & Hospitality and be based at our head office, Eagle Farm Racecourse. It is suited for those that have experience with dealing with a high level of sales and event planning related objectives, as well as handling incoming phone calls and emails in a timely and professional manner.

In this role, you will be able to demonstrate foundational selling skills that you can grow and develop with the company. You will have experience in building rapport with both internal and external clients.

The successful applicant will be available to work on Saturdays and on public holidays as required. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Actively respond to enquiries for hospitality packages including raceday events, conferences and corporate events
  • Use excellent negotiation skills, creativity and interpersonal skills to sell packages
  • Actively participate and contribute to the creation of event concepts and sale packages (Creating ticket matrix, resources, budgets etc)
  • Promptly prepare budgets, proposals and contracts for clients
  • Meet sales targets as directed by the General Manager Sales & Hospitality
  • Attend to administrative functions including invoicing, recording event details, action plans and other relevant paperwork to effectively communicate customer needs
  • Ensure events run smoothly from confirmation to payment of account and, where necessary, follow-up late account payments
  • Co-ordinate the activities with other departments including Marketing, Operations, Partnerships and Finance to plan functions
  • Coordinate Event Orders details and updates as required for Raceday Functions and Business Events
  • Attend to all administrative tasks associated with sales and functions activities
  • Attending key racedays and business events where required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1-2 years sales/events experience in a similar role
  • Experience with the hospitality/hotel/sports/events or catering industry highly desired
  • Degree in Event Management highly desired
  • Work with KPIs and targets

THE SKILLS YOU'LL HAVE

  • The ability to handle administrative duties in a busy environment
  • An analytical mind - spot trends, suggest solutions and be involved in the creative process
  • Experience of using the Microsoft suite in a business context, as well as Hubspot and Ungerboeck or similar event management system desirable
  • The ability to deliver to strict deadlines
  • Be able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and drive outcomes
