Security Coordinator

We are the leading metropolitan racecourse in Queensland and one of the greatest racetracks of Australia that sees thousands of people coming to the racecourse to enjoy the hospitality and quality entertainment. The Brisbane Racing Club is the traditional home of Thoroughbred racing in Queensland and maintains two race tracks Eagle Farm and Doomben. Hosting 70+ Racedays every year with several events on each day and 100+ special events including weddings, conferences, corporate meetings to name a few!

To support the successful execution of these Racedays and ensure the overall security of BRC assets and the precinct, we are seeking an experienced Security Coordinator to join our team. While your typical workdays will be Tuesday - Saturday, you will be flexible to work any non-race day event including some evenings.  

This role supports the Head of Security and Precinct to ensure and maintain a well secured precinct for the safety and benefit of tenants, trainers, employees and patrons.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team, 'on the ground' during race days and events, supporting the Head of Security ensuring race days and events are executed to plans
  • Monitoring and management of the CCTV systems.
  • Coordinate and maintain rosters for external security contractors as per workforce planning model and provision of contracted security as per attendance volume requirements
  • Provide advice and support to employees, patrons and contractors on precinct and security matters as required
  • Assist as required with security functions across the precinct, including assisting movement of VIP guests and patrons on event days
  • Assist with oversight and implementation, monitoring and review of BRC action plans to ensure that operational safety and security is maintained
  • Assist in the event of any emergency leading staff/patrons in a professional manner. Eg (Fire evacuation)

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Solid understanding of RSA and Liquor licensing laws is essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds and throughout all levels of the organisation.
  • First Aid qualifications and basic experience is valuable.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Security and/or law enforcement experience is highly desirable but not essential
  • Qld Security license is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of the thoroughbred racing industry and/or events management and hospitality is desirable.
