Role Overview 

As the Safety and Security Officer at Brisbane Racing Club, you will play an important role to ensure the safety and security of all BRC racecourse operations which includes team members, contractors, patrons and assets. This role involves monitoring, responding to, and managing safety and security issues, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.  

 

The Safety and Security Officer will support operational requirements Tuesday to Saturday.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Brief security and coordinate emergency medical service contractors working on the racecourse to ensure compliance with safety and security standards; Support escalation and decision-making processes as needed.
  • Ensure the consistent execution of safety protocols, emergency response plans, and compliance with all regulatory standards across operational areas.
  • Perform systematic patrols of racecourse grounds, including public areas, restricted zones, and sensitive locations, to monitor and ensure the safety and security of all individuals and property.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, such as disturbances, breaches, or emergencies, ensuring appropriate actions are taken. Document all incidents and escalate them to internal leadership or external authorities as required.
  • Investigate and document safety and security incidents, including accidents, injuries, and breaches of security related processes. Prepare reports, analyse root causes and provide recommendations for corrective actions. 
  • Implement corrective actions and preventive measures following incident investigations, ensuring that all steps are taken to prevent recurrence.

Skills & Experience Qualifications 

You will be a dynamic professional with previous security experience working in large event venues. You will have good attention to detail, be aware of security and safety regulations local to Brisbane and be able to work across a variety of internal and external stakeholders  

You will also have: 

  • A valid Security License and a Certificate II or Certificate III in Security Operations
  • Proficiency in using security systems and equipment including surveillance cameras and access control systems
  • Emergency response or incident management experience
  • Current First Aid Certificate, and willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Check and any other relevant checks as required.
