Role Overview 

We’re on the lookout for an experienced and motivated Grounds & Gardens Team Leader to join our Facilities team. This is your chance to lead a passionate crew, maintain the grounds and gardens to pristine standards, and contribute to the presentation of one of Brisbane’s most prestigious venues.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Overseeing the day-to-day maintenance of our beautiful gardens, grounds, and surrounds.

  • Supervising, rostering and leading a team of Gardeners and Apprentices.

  • Coordinating Race Day and event preparation — think floral displays, grounds clean-ups, and ensuring everything’s picture-perfect.

  • Managing maintenance schedules, garden development projects, and annual planting plans.

  • Ensuring equipment is safe, maintained and used correctly.

  • Maintaining a strong focus on WHS standards and practices.

  • Working closely with internal teams, contractors, and external suppliers.

  • Keeping detailed records of attendance, leave, and operational needs.

Skills & Experience Qualifications 

Summary of skills

 
  • Minimum Cert III in Horticulture (essential)

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar team leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of WHS practices, particularly manual handling and safe chemical use

  • Practical experience with grounds and garden maintenance in a commercial or public setting

  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable with admin basics including rostering and Microsoft Office programs

  • Proactive, organised and someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Available to work 24 Rostered Saturdays to support EA agreement requirements.
