About the Role

The Brisbane Racing Club is seeking an energetic and service‑driven Assistant Operations Manager to support the planning and delivery of race day and non‑race day events across our iconic venues. Working closely with the Operations Manager, this role plays a key part in ensuring seamless event execution, exceptional customer experiences, and efficient day‑to‑day operational performance.

You will coordinate event preparation, supervise teams, support administrative processes, and act as a key contact for both internal departments and external clients. What You’ll Be Doing

Operational Support & Delivery

  • Assist the Operations Manager in planning and coordinating hospitality and event operations across BRC venues.
  • Complete all administrative requirements for race day and nonrace day events, including menus, service sequences, briefing sheets, table signage, and booking documentation.
  • Support the delivery of race day operations, major carnivals, and commercial events, ensuring timeframes, service standards, and operational requirements are met.
  • Oversee venue readiness, including setups, staffing, service flow, and event presentation.
  • Provide handson leadership to staff during event periods, ensuring consistent service standards.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of casual and permanent team members.
  • Act as an escalation point during events and resolve operational issues promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor service quality and participate in continual improvement activities.
  • Manage followup tasks including supplier invoicing and event reconciliation.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, Planning, Culinary, AV, and Cellar to deliver cohesive, highquality guest experiences.
  • Contribute to new initiatives, process improvements, and enhanced guest service outcomes.

 

Financial & Resource Management

  • Support labour planning, rostering, and cost control to achieve budget targets.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock control to minimise waste.
  • Contribute to postevent reporting, reviews, and operational insights.

 

Compliance, Safety & Procedures

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, liquor licensing, WHS, RSA, and operational policy requirements.
  • Uphold and reinforce BRC standard operating procedures across all team members.
  • Assist with incident reporting, risk management, and safety processes.

 

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive and organised leader who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and has a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will bring:

 

  • Qualifications in Event Management, Hospitality, Business or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in managing or supervising largescale functions, public events, or trade shows.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a serviceoriented environment.
  • Strong understanding of RSA, WH&S, and relevant legislative compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong administrative capability and proficiency in systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe and EBMS.
  • Knowledge of the racing, events, or hospitality industry (desirable).

This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays in line with racing and event schedules.
