About the Role
The Head of Sales is a key commercial leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth across all Raceday and Event segments at the Brisbane Racing Club. You will lead the development and execution of our sales strategy, overseeing corporate hospitality, premium experiences, sponsorship‑linked packages, and event‑based offerings.
Working closely with Marketing, Planning, Commercial, Operations and the Executive Leadership Team, you’ll ensure alignment between sales activity and event delivery, helping maximise attendance, revenue, customer experience and the overall commercial performance of the Club. This role is both strategic and hands‑on, requiring strong leadership, a forward-thinking mindset and the ability to build exceptional relationships with our valued clients and partners.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading the development and execution of the sales strategy across all Raceday and Event segments
- Driving revenue growth through corporate hospitality, premium experiences, sponsorship-linked packages and event offerings
- Providing leadership, coaching and direction to the Sales Team to build a high‑performance culture
- Setting clear sales targets, KPIs and accountability frameworks
- Monitoring market trends, competitor insights and customer data to shape product and sales strategies
- Identifying opportunities for innovation, upselling and cross‑selling
- Representing the organisation at race days, events and industry functions as a senior ambassador for the Club
- Overseeing forecasting, pipeline management and budget performance
- Managing high-value negotiations, contracts and renewals
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior corporate clients, partners and stakeholders
- Collaborating with Marketing, Planning, Commercial and Operations to align sales activities with event delivery
- Contributing to the development of new event concepts, hospitality packages and go‑to‑market strategies
- Ensuring seamless handover of sold business to delivery teams
- Overseeing CRM usage, reporting tools and sales processes
- Providing regular performance reporting to the Executive Leadership Team
- Ensuring sales activity aligns with Club standards, policies and core values
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 7+ years’ sales leadership experience within events, hospitality, tourism, or related industries
- Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and managing high‑value pipelines
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high‑performing teams
- Strong negotiation, presentation and communication skills
- A strategic thinker with hands‑on execution capability
- Experience using CRM systems and data‑driven sales processes
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in premium or large-scale events (sports, entertainment, corporate conferences)
- Background in both B2B and B2C sales environments
- Existing network within events, tourism or hospitality (desirable)
- Knowledge of thoroughbred racing, hospitality or event delivery
