Rostering and Workforce Planning Optimisation Lead

Job No: BRISRC255
Location: Ascot, QLD

Role Overview

Brisbane Racing Club is seeking a Rostering and Workforce Planning Optimisation Lead to join our People, Culture and Safety team on a 12-month contract, based onsite at Eagle Farm Racecourse.
This is a newly created role focused on improving workforce productivity, labour cost visibility and rostering efficiency across the Club. This role is not responsible for producing day-to-day rosters. Instead, it will partner with Executive General Managers, department leaders, Finance, Payroll and Operations to improve workforce planning, labour reporting, system use and commercial decision-making.
The successful candidate will also play an important role in scoping and supporting the review of a new rostering and workforce management tool, helping to ensure any future system is fit for purpose for Brisbane Racing Club’s complex operational, racing, hospitality and event-based workforce.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager, People, Culture and Safety, this role will be critical in supporting better labour planning across our permanent, casual, event-based and seasonal workforce, particularly during peak racing and major event periods.
About the role
In this role, you will:
  • Analyse workforce data, labour spend, roster patterns, overtime, allowances and casual workforce utilisation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve labour efficiency and reduce unnecessary labour spend.
  • Develop reporting that tracks labour percentage, roster efficiency, workforce utilisation and department-level trends.
  • Partner with leaders to improve roster structures and workforce planning decisions.
  • Review current rostering practices and identify gaps, duplication, inefficiencies and compliance risks.
  • Support improved use of rostering and workforce systems, including FoundU or similar platforms.
  • Contribute to the scoping and review of a potential new rostering and workforce management tool.
  • Work with Finance, Payroll and Operations to improve data accuracy, payroll inputs and labour reporting.
  • Support labour forecasting for major events, racing periods and seasonal workforce peaks.
  • Develop practical recommendations for a sustainable future workforce planning model.
About you
You will bring strong workforce planning, rostering optimisation, labour cost analysis or operational workforce management experience. You will be confident working with data, systems and senior stakeholders, and able to turn workforce information into practical commercial recommendations.
You will also have:
  • Strong data analysis and reporting capability.
  • Experience with rostering, payroll or workforce management systems.
  • A good understanding of labour cost drivers, workforce utilisation and roster efficiency.
  • Strong commercial judgement.
  • The ability to influence leaders without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, operational or event-based environment.
Experience in hospitality, racing, events, clubs, venues, sport, leisure or another labour-intensive environment will be highly regarded.
Experience with FoundU, award or EBA-related rostering considerations, process improvement, change management or system implementation would also be beneficial.
Why join Brisbane Racing Club?
Brisbane Racing Club is one of Queensland’s leading racing, hospitality and events organisations. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact by improving how we plan, roster, report and manage labour across a complex and dynamic workforce.
You will work closely with senior leaders across the business and play a key role in strengthening workforce planning, operational efficiency, labour cost visibility and future system capability.
Location
This role is based onsite at Eagle Farm Racecourse. Onsite parking is available.
