The Club requires an experienced Turf Surfaces Maintenance Attendant (Doomben) to complement our team in a full-time capacity. This role is to ensure that all turf surfaces are maintained and presented in the highest possible standard with due consideration of OH&S policies and procedures.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mowing, vacuuming, aeration of turf surfaces.
  • Nutrition and pesticide application (if licensed to do so)
  • Irrigation – maintenance, adjustment and repairs.
  • Use turf track measurement tools to assist with managing turf surfaces.
  • Operate tractors and implements in a safe manner.
  • Where required, harrowing, rolling and water of non-turfed surfaces.
  • Participate in renovation programs as directed.
  • Move running rail for each race meeting.
  • Undertake daily pre-start assessments of all turf equipment.
  • Assist Team Leader Turf Surfaces Maintenance in daily/weekly/monthly maintenance programs.
  • Work racedays as scheduled by Racecourse Manager.

To be successful for this role, you MUST have:

  • Minimum of Certificate III Turf management an advantage
  • Construction Blue Card, “C” Class driver licence, HR licence (an advantage)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Sound interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Physically fit to undertake duties as required
  • Knowledge of the thoroughbred racing industry
  • Pesticide application licence
