The Group controls three licensed venues and a business events department operating 7 days a week, is landlord to a number of commercial properties and is part way through a $1.5 BN property masterplan turning its venues into entertainment, residential, shopping and racing precincts. The BRC has over 150 years of history and tradition and a bright future as a progressive Not For Profit business with a professional Club culture. BRC has a high performing culture within the Senior Leadership Team expecting the highest standards of governance and professionalism.

The GM People & Culture at BRC is a key Senior Leadership Team (SLT) position reporting to the CFO and working closely with the CEO and other SLT Members. BRC’s 120 full time and 300 casual employees perform many different vocations but all play an important role in BRC’s achievements particularly delivering great Racing Carnivals and servicing Members, customers and racing stakeholders. BRC’s strategy requires every member of the team to understand and demonstrate BRC’s values and the GM People & Culture plays a critical role.
BRC has grown quickly doubling turnover in the past 5 years so change management is constant. BRC requires Executives that can thrive and lead during a growth stage for the business.

About the role
As a values-based leader, coupled with an energy and passion for people experience, the GM People & Culture and divisional team will be accountable for human resources, organisational development, strategic talent, optimising organisational capability and performance, leadership development, compensation and benefits, HR Services, Event Staffing (rostering), OH&S as well as Employee & Industrial Relations.

This person will need to be able to lead by example and with team members who have a diverse set of skills and backgrounds, working together collectively, innovating, and driving outcomes. With the business moving forward at pace, adopting new technologies and systems, ensuring the Human Resources function is modern and professional will be key.

About you

BRC is looking for a leader that will thrive in an environment that understands the direct correlation between the people experience and customer experience. You will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and will have a background in leading a modern progressive people and culture function.
With a demonstrated background in leading and developing teams within both blue and white-collar environments, you will have demonstrated ensuring key initiatives support the growth agenda.

Forming part of the SLT you will contribute to the enterprise-wide business performance discussion.
At BRC we encounter many different challenges due in part to the fact we work with people, horses and turf at the mercy of the Queensland climate. Leaders must be able to deal with the unexpected and keep the operation running. An interest in horse racing and animal welfare is desirable.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a dynamic services business with a rich history. Request for position description can be done by emailing recruitment@brc.com.au. All interested applicants should apply by including a cover letter and CV to recruitment@brc.com.au before March 15, 2022.
